What Makes Queerwell Unique and Critically Needed
- Multiple routes into support: therapy, workshops, coaching, and learning spaces, so people can take the first step that is right for them, rather than being funnelled into a single waiting list.
- Delivered by fully qualified, accredited mental health professionals: psychologists, psychotherapists, and coaches, working in psychologically and culturally safe, LGBTQIA+-affirmative spaces.
- LGBTQIA+-led and co-created, through continual community consultation and freelance LGBTQIA+ practitioners, keeping the offer relevant, trusted and genuinely demand-led.
- National reach without national overheads: online and offline delivery through commissioned associate practitioners keeps waiting times down and access up, without the cost of a fixed office network.
- Equity built into the model, prioritising LGBTQIA+ people facing intersecting and overlapping forms of discrimination, those hardest to reach and least resourced elsewhere.
- A lean, sustainable organisation: low fixed costs, no expensive infrastructure, and specialist delivery commissioned as needed; supported by two independent income streams, our Wellness in the Workspace programme for employers and a community ‘access and donate’ model, reducing reliance on any single funder.
What we have achieved after opening our doors two years ago
Expanding Access Nationwide
- Sunday Sanctuary Moves Central: Our flagship London drop-in has NOW successfully transitioned to a vibrant central venue becoming more accessible to a pan-London and beyond (some people travel 100 miles to Sunday Sanctuary); while launching Sunday Sanctuary Monthly in Manchester this month to meet rising demand in the Northwest.
- National Reach via Q-Time: Our live digital wellbeing programme, Q-Time, has transformed our geographical footprint, delivering free, interactive workshops to isolated queer people in every corner of the country.
- Specialist Programming: Recognising acute community need, we have expanded our workshop series to deliver tailored support for neurodivergent LGBTQIA+ people and students, alongside publishing accessible mental health guides, including our popular Freshers Mental Health Guide.
Multi-Sector Collaboration & Thought Leadership
Our growing reputation as a trusted authority on LGBTQIA+ wellbeing has allowed us to forge deep collaborative partnerships spanning the NHS, peer charities, and private sector employers. Following the publication of our milestone global report on LGBTQIA+ Mental Health, Queerwell is increasingly recognised as a vital thought leader driving systemic, evidence-based change. Building on this momentum, we have rolled out Wellness in the Workspace and our corporate Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) in the private sector, while advancing active negotiations to deliver tailored support for LGBTQIA+ NHS staff.
Creative Connection, Therapy & What’s Next
Through coach and therapist led, prevention focused workshops and playshops including money, debt and mental health, PTSD based yoga, craft-based sessions to relieve isolation, loneliness, and low mood. Looking ahead, we are preparing to launch an accredited, sliding-scale community therapy service, expanding our online free mental health Resource Hub, and launching Books Save Lives—a wellbeing through literature partnership with Coach, author, and podcaster Dr Paul Taylor-Pitt.
Our Impact: Every week, hundreds of LGBTQIA+ people access culturally competent, identity-affirming care that combats isolation, strengthens resilience, and creates genuine belonging.
Thank you for standing alongside Queerwell as we build a safer, healthier, and more connected future for our community.
