Why Sunday Sanctuary?
For many LGBTQ+ people, Sundays can be the loneliest day of the week. Without traditional family networks, facing estrangement, or lacking sober, inclusive community spaces, feelings of isolation and despair often intensify.
- LGBTQ+ people are 3x more likely to experience anxiety, depression or suicidal thoughts
- 58% of LGBTQ+ youth have seriously considered suicide in the past year and 1 in 5 have attempted to take their own life.
The need for accessible, affirming mental health support has never been greater.
What we are creating
Every Sunday, Queerwell and our partner Strides, a charity that providse low-cost housing and therapy services, will transform a central London venue into a community wellness hub with:
- Therapy & Support Groups – one-to-one, group sessions, bereavement support, and Sunday T for Trans+ women
- Coaching – resilience, confidence, and life skills workshops
- Learning & Discussion – covering emotional regulation, healthy relationships, body image, substance use, debt, and more
- Creative PlayShops – arts, music, storytelling, mindful photography, knitting, and community-led sessions
- Community Hub – a welcoming space with refreshments, films, activities, and volunteer hosts
All services are free or low cost, ensuring those most in need can access them.
How you can help
Thanks to our partner Strides, we have the venue rent-free for 3 months. To keep Sunday Sanctuary free, open and accessible to those in most need, we must raise £15,000.

- £50 Provide refreshments and a welcoming space for one Sunday
